I was born in Lymington, Hampshire in 1967. My father is the world renowned marine artist Rodney Charman (see www.marine-artist.com) and he had a studio in the family house where he painted daily. I often joined him and practised my drawing skills from a young age. I attended Priestlands Comprehensive School in Lymington where I continued to enjoy all creative art and technical drawing lessons.
After leaving school in 1983 I attended Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design where I studied art and illustration for 4 years and achieved a Distinction grade Higher National Diploma in Art and Design. Since then I have worked as an artist and illustrator and have had numerous pieces of my artwork published commercially in books as well as on greeting cards and fine art prints. I have also undertaken many private commissions and sold original paintings in galleries and exhibitions.
I now live in Launceston, Cornwall and I work at Shebbear College in North Devon. I offer private tuition for individuals and art courses for groups of all abilities.
