I am currently working on a series of large scale abstract paintings which depict the lyrics of some of my favourite classic rock and pop songs. My aim is to create an inspiring collection of paintings with real visual impact and profound meaning.
The first painting, entitled ‘Joni’s Dream – Back to the Garden’ is inspired by the lyrics of Joni Mitchell’s 1969 song ‘Woodstock’ ‘… and I dreamed I saw the bombers riding shotgun in the sky, turning into butterflies above our nation … we are stardust, we are golden, and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden.’
Acrylic on canvas, 90cm x 90cm. This dramatic painting is the first in an ongoing series of paintings I am working on, based on the most thought provoking and beautiful pop and rock lyrics predominantly from the 1950s to the 1970s.
